Set within the historic landscape of Franschhoek, Rickety Bridge Estate brings together wine, dining and accommodation in an experience rooted in the character of the farm and its surrounding winelands. The design approach was developed to complement the estate’s existing sense of place, balancing its heritage and agricultural setting with a contemporary hospitality experience.

Across Paulina’s Restaurant, the Wine Tasting Room and the farm accommodation, each space was given its own distinct character while maintaining a cohesive connection to the estate as a whole. Natural materials, warm textures and considered detailing create an atmosphere that feels relaxed and authentic, while bespoke elements add a sense of individuality and craft.

The result is a collection of hospitality spaces that encourage guests to slow down and engage with the setting — from the social energy of the restaurant and tasting room to the more intimate experience of staying on the farm. Together, the spaces offer a contemporary interpretation of the Franschhoek winelands experience, grounded in place, heritage and a strong connection to the landscape.
